Places to go in Tallahassee

(other than FSU games and watching the ballots being counted)

- Shopping

Vinyl Fever [2256 w pensacola st]: used and new CD's. Mostly in the indie/punk/ska scene, but Vinyl Fever also sells strange electroncia and some goth/industrial.

Devils and Divas, Angelic Soles...etc [w pensacola st]: three stores next to each other. The first one sells designer label cyber/rave clothes and techno records. Next door is a vintage clothing store. Angelic Soles is the last one which sells shoes, home decoration, and alternative gifts.

Condomology [original:618 w tennessee st/ super store:n monroe st]: sells toys, fetish clothes and shoes, adult materials, and party favors.

Corporate Sluts: A selection of mall stores to silence the corporate whore in us all.....Hot Topic, Wet Seal, Forever 21, Gadzooks, Journeys (shoes) in the Governer's Square Mall on Apalachee Parkway.

- Dining

Irish Pub and Coffeehouse (commonly known as the 'Irish Pit') : The Epitome has been bought and redone. And now we have a place with alot of the same people, food with meat, alcohol, pool tables, and the exact same coffee drinks. The decor has changed, it is no longer couches with extinct lifeforms living in them, it has windows and booths and tables (oh my). The service is either good or suicidally bad. Overall, I'd have to say a nice change and I really am glad for the alcohol!

Hemispheres and Kitcho [109 e college ave/ 1415 timberlane rd]: Same owners, different sides of town. These are the best sushi places in town. Hemispheres is downtown and also sells lovely coffee, and Kitcho is in Market Square and has traditional Japanese food as well as sushi

Om [n monroe st]: New on the scene, opened by the previous owner of Fatty's and Skinny's, this coffeebar/wine bar/cafe is open for sandwiches and salads during the day and at night techno or jazz can be heard and wine or coffee can be bought.

Bean and Leaf [602 industrial dr]: Homemade healthy food. In a caboose. Not just for vegetarians, the owner Becca can make some mean carnivorious food too.

Kool Beans [921 thomasville rd]: Reasonable lunch prices, expensive dinners but worth it if you have money. Very innovative.

Cabo's [1221 apalachee pkwy]: Mexican and Carribean food thats super good.

Pitaria [w tennessee st]: Cheap and good mediteranean food, on near the mall, and one near campus.

Samrat [2529 apalachee pkwy]: The only Indian place in town. Ok, but pricey, and some of us will pay it because we need our curry fix.

Black Dog Cafe [229 lake ella dr]: Coffee house and mini cafe overlooking Lake Ella, very cute and cozy.

Nightlife

Cafe Cabernet [1019 n monroe st]: Pricey. Gourmet food and the best alcohol in town. Save up for it.

Cow Haus: Primarily a live band and punk venue, but often there are good shows to see. Underwater, Mira, Grim Faeries have all played here.

Fatty's and Skinny's [667 w tennessee st]: Tiny little bar in the Tennessee strip. Only sells imported beers. On top of Floyd's.

Floyd's [666 w tennessee st]: Mondays: 'Pandora's Box' synthpop/darwave/industrial night with DJ Legion. Sundays: Retro Rewind 80's with DJ Rogue. Also hosts live bands; VAST, Bella Morte, and Cruxshadows just performed in December 2000.

Leon Pub [behind dunkin donuts on n monroe]: It has no listing in the phone book. It is grubby and dodgy. But it has a great beer and cider selection, good pool tables, and a 'secret' sort of feel to it.

On the Border [1650 n monroe]:It makes the webpage because of the 2 for 1 margarita specials ALL THE TIME.

Poor Pauls Poorhouse [618 1/2 w tennessee st]: Pool tables, darts, full bar, and a jukebox with everything from Queensryche and Guns-n-Roses to the Smiths and the Cure.

Waterworks [near kool beans on thomasville rd]: Liquor bar (mostly) in a cheesy tiki-bar setting. Has live jazz and random neat techno most nights.
